Abstract:Commonweal Housing commissioned this study to look in more detail at the housing and other problems – including lack of any formal support, faced by victims of “miscarriages of justice”, which arise where a convicted criminal is subsequently found innocent after referral to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) (or Scottish equivalent). We consider a range of options and the opportunities, drawbacks, and possible mitigation actions of each option are set out and conclusions drawn.
